YSHIELD® SAFEBUILD® K150 Shielding Wallpaper: Ultra-Breathable 100 dB EMF Protection for Modern Interiors

Meet the K150 Shielding Wallpaper — our new, upgraded shielding wallpaper replacing ECO-P80 for customers who want serious high-frequency EMF attenuation and a material that stays highly vapour-permeable inside real homes, studios, clinics, and workspaces.

Built for demanding professional environments and now available for private use, K150 is a thin, surface-stable wallpaper paper laminated with a micro-needled aluminium foil layer. The micro-needling (around 200,000 tiny holes per m²) dramatically improves breathability without reducing shielding performance, delivering an exceptional 100 dB attenuation (at 1 GHz) and lab-measured performance across a wide band up to 40 GHz.

Environmentally Conscious Materials & Responsible Production

K150 is a paper-based shielding wallpaper made with cellulose pulp and a thin aluminium layer, supported by OEKO-TEX® certified components (adhesive powder).
It’s produced in-house in Germany, with a design focus on performance, consistency, and practical installability.

Certification note: TÜV-SÜD certification is in progress, including testing for heavy metals, SVOCs and emissions to TM-22 (08-2020).

High-Performance Aluminium Shielding Layer (HF + LF Capability)

K150 is designed to help reduce:

  • High-frequency (HF) electromagnetic fields (e.g., Wi-Fi, mobile/5G ranges)

  • Low-frequency (LF) alternating electric fields, thanks to its electrically conductive surface (when properly grounded)

Measurements are referenced across 600 MHz to 40 GHz using recognised test standards (e.g., ASTM D4935-10 / IEEE Std 299-2006), with the stated dB value typically referenced at 1 GHz.

Choose Between Two Installation Orientations

Option 1 — Aluminium (silver) side facing into the room (recommended)

  • Technically the best solution

  • Easiest to connect strips and integrate grounding afterwards using conductive accessories

  • Also the best approach if you want the option to remove/replace the decorative finish later (when used with suitable primers)

Option 2 — White side facing into the room (cleaner visual during install)

  • Visually “nicer” to work with as a surface

  • Still effective as a shielding layer, but grounding and seam-bridging must be planned more carefully

Best shielding practice:
For best results, overlap strips and bond the overlap using a suitable adhesive system; then smooth and sand if required. Edge-to-edge installation is possible, but may introduce small losses at very high frequencies.

Installation Notes (important)

  • Substrate prep: absorbent/chalky substrates should be primed appropriately (e.g., a compatible primer system)

  • Adhesives: heavy-wallpaper adhesive is used for the fleece/paper side; the aluminium side may require a suitable adhesive system to achieve a reliable bond

  • pH compatibility: materials in direct contact should be within pH 4–9 due to the aluminium layer

Grounding

K150 is electrically conductive and should be integrated into functional equipotential bonding (FEB) using suitable grounding accessories.
Grounding:

  • Does not change the shielding effectiveness for high-frequency radiation in a meaningful way

  • Does affect how effectively low-frequency alternating electric fields are reduced

  • Is important for safety, because the surface is conductive

A common approach is to connect the conductive wallpaper surface to a grounding point using appropriate grounding components and a qualified method. If you’re connecting to mains earth, always follow UK electrical safety practices and use a competent installer where needed.

Safety

  • The aluminium layer can create sharp edges after cutting

  • Wear protective gloves during handling and installation
