How to Use
G-Iron ArmoFlex is designed for targeted magnetic field shielding applications. It can be used near sources such as electrical panels, transformers, power cabling, appliances, wiring routes and other low-frequency AC magnetic field sources.
Before installation, we strongly recommend measuring the area with a suitable low-frequency EMF meter so you can identify the direction and strength of the magnetic field. Magnetic shielding is highly site-specific, so measuring before and after installation is important.
The material can be cut to size and shaped around the target area. Sections may be installed side by side or slightly overlapped to improve continuity. In some applications, multiple layers may be used to increase shielding performance.
If using the material for low-frequency electric field reduction, suitable grounding may be required. Grounding work should only be carried out safely and in accordance with relevant electrical guidance.
The edges of this material can be very sharp. Always wear suitable gloves and eye protection when handling, cutting or installing.
Important Installation Notes
- Always measure the area before purchasing or installing magnetic shielding material.
- Magnetic field shielding performance depends on source strength, distance, coverage area, direction and installation method.
- Use overlap or multiple layers where higher reduction is required.
- Do not assume standard RF shielding fabrics will reduce magnetic fields; magnetic fields require specialist materials such as G-Iron ArmoFlex.
- Edges are sharp. Handle with care and use protective gloves.
- If grounding is required, consult a qualified professional.
- Cut goods may not be returnable once supplied to your requested size.
FAQs
What is G-Iron ArmoFlex used for?
G-Iron ArmoFlex is used for reducing low-frequency AC magnetic fields produced by electrical current flow. Common sources include power lines, electrical wiring, circuit breaker panels, transformers and some household or commercial appliances.
Does it block WiFi, mobile phone or 5G signals?
G-Iron ArmoFlex is primarily designed for low-frequency AC magnetic field shielding, not as a standard RF fabric for WiFi, mobile phone or 5G shielding. For radio-frequency shielding, a dedicated RF shielding fabric, paint, film or mesh is usually more suitable.
Can it reduce electric fields too?
It may help reduce low-frequency AC electric fields when correctly grounded. Grounding must be carried out safely and may require professional advice depending on the installation.
Can it be cut to size?
Yes. The material can be cut to size for custom installations. However, the edges can be very sharp, so suitable protective gloves and eye protection should be used.
Can it be bent or shaped?
Yes. G-Iron ArmoFlex is flexible and can be bent or moulded to suit different installation areas while maintaining its shielding properties.
Can I use more than one layer?
Yes. Multiple layers or overlapping sections can be used where greater shielding performance is required. The correct approach depends on the magnetic field source and measurements taken on site.
Do I need to measure EMF levels first?
Yes. Magnetic shielding is very location-specific. We strongly recommend measuring the area before and after installation with a suitable low-frequency EMF meter to confirm the source, field direction and reduction achieved.
Is it suitable for damp locations?
G-Iron ArmoFlex is designed with strong corrosion resistance and can maintain shielding integrity in more demanding environments. Installation conditions should still be assessed carefully before use.
Are the edges sharp?
Yes. The edges can be very sharp. Handle carefully and wear suitable gloves when cutting, moving or installing the material.
Is it returnable after cutting?
Cut-to-size shielding materials are often classed as custom or cut goods and may not be returnable unless faulty. Please check the returns information before ordering.
